Sneaky Peeky

I had the pleasure of shooting the most cutest (so cute he requires bad grammar) little boy Saturday. Little "E" was so adorable and possibly the most well behaved two year old I have ever met.

Everything he said had a question sound in his voice and he loved to talk.

Me: Can you stand right here buddy?
"E": I can stand right here?
Me: Ok I am going to take your picture.
"E": You are going to take my picture?
Me: You are so cute!
"E" I am so cute?

You get the idea. I loved how he would stand in place and I would back up to take the picture since I was using my 85 a lot and he would come running towards the camera. I got a lot of exercise.

I love it when you can tell when kids have great parents at home. Here are a few of the shots I have edited so far.
ok more than a few..but did I mention he was insanely cute?

He Smiles!

Now I have photographic evidence ;) When Blaze smiles for the camera it is usually a very tight lipped one, but he actually gave me more today. Even more shocking, he was willing to take pictures for me...and it lasted all of five minutes. A new record ladies and gentlemen. Most of these are mommy goggle pictures, but I love his personality here.

I used Jenn H's choco action on some of these, and man does it rock- thanks again for sharing :)

And this pose is so Blaze, he is always walking around the house with his hand on his hips or behind his back. Using a different processing on this one:

Kickin' it Old School

I really need to edit all my easter pictures so I can order some, even though most of them are snapshots. A lot of them were done in full sun which is my enemy but it was good to have the practice.

I did play with this one of my niece though because it was begging me to :) The SOOC was kind of boring and a little blown since I was just testing my settings.
Photobucket

I loved the way she was walking and her hands behind her back though so I made it a little more aged looking:

And then I went a little bit further:

What would I do without photoshop?

Strength

I don't get a lot of pictures of my mom or even get to see her as much as I should (though I do call almost every day even if out of boredom). She is without a doubt the strongest person I have ever know in my entire life. She probably doesn't know how much I admire her. She always did the best she could for her kids no matter the circumstances and she did a hell of a job with us. Not an easy thing with seven of us.

I know her life was and is rough, but she loves and lives for her children with a strength that used to be unknown to me before I had my own. I am ashamed to say that I probably didn't appreciate it before then as I do now too. We all know what hindsight is.

This pictures is from her parents grave over Easter Weekend. Both my grandparents died before I was born and while she was relatively young herself. It scares me to think that they were around the age she is now. I really don't know what I would do without her.
Photobucket
I wish I was better at expressing myself verbally but sometimes when things are tough to think about I push them to the side. Writing this makes me realize that I need to take the time to tell her all that she has taught me and meant to me. Anyways perhaps she is reading this-if so I love you mom you are the best.

A boy and his Boba Fett

I know all these old school movies are making a comeback but my son is a total 80's movies/cartoons boy. Anything dad likes, he likes which is really cute. For example what did he ask to be fore Halloween when he was 4??? Peter Venkman...not a ghostbuster but specifically Peter Venkman, lol.

Anyways Star Wars is the major thing in this household. He has all the movies memorized and tons of Star Wars toys (though not nearly as many as dad) He just got this Boba last night and wouldn't part with it...except for a second when he wanted me to take a photo of just Boba.

Vacation, all I ever wanted...

That Go-Gos song is stuck in my head cause I have been thinking how I really need a vacation. And lets face it, it's from the 80's so automatically a great song. I took a few days semi-computer break. I have just been thinking I haven't really had time for actual life lately-does that make sense?

How amazing would it be to go somewhere just for a couple of days with no phones or computers (I really couldn't survive w/out my phone unless I knew 100% that everyone would be safe so this is a hypothetical situation). Just me and my camera....and maybe my hubby if he is lucky ;)

Anyways here are a couple of pictures of Keats I took on the one of the two nice days we have had lately-Boo rain :(

Boss The Plane, The Plane

Get it-tattoo. Gosh I crack myself up. I got my new tattoo last night and I love it! It is still kinda red and what not but it is going to be purdy when it's all healed up.

The flowers are Japanese Cherry blossoms which bloom for only a short period of time. In the Japanese culture they symbolize how import life is because of this. And then Keaton is my sons name of course so a very fitting symbol.
Photobucket

I also took some more flower shots with the macro. I really have to buy this so I can get some walk-around shots too when everything is starting to bloom.

I tend to do more of a vintage wash on the pictures cause the colors seem so bright to me-maybe I am just not used to it yet.
Photobucket

Photobucket
The color was a bit bright for me so I toned it down a bit and now looking at it again I might like the brighter one.

Macro Madness

Well not really madness. I got to play briefly tonight and hopefully more tomorrow since I took the day off(Yippee!!!) Macro is a bit harder than I thought it would be. I think it is because I am not used to manual focus.

I can see where it could be addicting though...especially when there will be actual plants growing and I don't have to buy myself flowers ;) I do think I will try it out on the possible newborn shoot I have this weekend if it works out.

Toothless Boy

Blaze has lost his first two teeth in the past two weeks and like to say he is toothless boy.
Photobucket

He was saying here, "How am I supposed to whistle when I don't have teeth anymore?" Umm same way you did before, not at all ;) I felt like playing with different conversions today. I think my favorite is the vintage one, I like how soft it looks.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket
I know I have glare in his glasses here, but in my snapshots theme (semi-snapshots here ;) I decided not to care or try to fix it-patting myself on the back.

Crocodile Tears..

If you look closely at his cheek you will notice a tear....and yet there is also a hint of a smile here. I am on to you little guy.
Photobucket

In exciting news, I rented the 100mm macro lens which I am sure I will then want to buy- sorry James. I can't wait till it gets here!

And now for Deep Thoughts by Blaze

Every so often my husband will send me a text with a Blaze-ism that was gained during the morning ride to school.

A couple of recent ones, "Dad, can you turn my hand into buttered popcorn balls, cause I sure love buttered popcorn balls and then I could eat them" Yeah, he doesn't like buttered popcorn balls-I don't even think he has ever had one.

Or, "Dad, I sure am glad mustard doesn't have great commercials cause I don't really like mustard" Randomness, anyway this kid cracks me up.

I have been trying to get more snapshots lately, so these are just from my son goofing around in my room. I think that will be my personal theme this week since I don't have any pets...let's see how long it will take me to break my own theme ;)

So much for my spring feelings...

We just got hit with the worst snow storm of the season. It was actually the first snow worth playing in too. It seems crazy that is was so warm just last week. Anyway here are some snaps from the playing in the snow....I think my husband had more fun than my son ;)

Baby shoes

Just some baby shoes here, nothing spectacular. I think I am obsessed with kids shoes. They are so cute, and I love the different ways kids stand...or sit in this case. Plus I finally did the rounded corners thing- thanks for the tutorial Jordan!
Photobucket

Random note- I am going to the Melting Pot this weekend (the fondue restaurant-a fave)!!! I get so excited by melted cheese-is that abnormal?

Spring is almost here!!!

I went outside this weekend without freezing my butt off! It was beautiful out and got me all excited for spring.

I also just found out it was daylight savings time this weekend! Everyone thinks I am crazy for being happy about losing an hour of sleep but you all will understand-that means extra shooting time at night! This helps me out so much since I work all day throughout the week. Now I won't have to try to fit all my session in on Saturday and Sunday.

Here are a few pictures from the beautiful day on Sunday, just my cutie pie son.

PSA

Always check your battery! We went to the circus Saturday and the whole time I was thinking I would take my 40d. Well at the last minute I decided that would be a bad idea and grabbed mt Xti. My battery lasted like 30 minutes.
Oh well at least it was fun. Now you know, and knowing is half the battle!

Here are some of the few shots I did manage to get. I wasn't really feeling like editing so they are mostly SOOC just cropped and sharpened. And can I just tell you these clowns were kinda weird. Two of them forced me to kiss them, like actually grabbed my face lol, and a third one untied my shirt. Good thing I don't have a fear of clowns.
PhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucketPhotobucket

This was the only one I got of my son and of course the flash didn't go off so there is a lot of noise. I loved the look of wonder though.
