You take the good, you take the bad...

You take them both and there you have the facts of life, the facts of life. You're welcome for getting that song stuck in your head ;)

Anyways...so I rented a 70-200 cause I really think I want that lens. I went with the f/4 non IS version cause I wanted to convince myself that would be fine for me. I have the 24-70 2.8 and the 85 1.8 so I don't really need the extra stops I just want some more reach.

The good is that I think I will love this lens. I only got to take a couple of pictures when I got home since it was already getting dark. I can't wait to have more time to play with plenty of light.

(I wasn't really worried about comp, white balance or anything like that with these, just sharpness)

The bad is that I think I will love this lens- anyone want to float me $600...it's better than the $1800 for the other one ;)

And just cause this cracks me up...he looks so Igor/Hunchback of Notre Dame here:

These shots are fabulous! I've been debating between the 2.8 4.0 versions of that lens, too. I'm glad to hear you like the 4.0. I've used the 2.8 before, but not the 4.0.....BTW, Canon has rebates right now...enable...enable...enable...

Hooray for you renting! I think that's a great way to figure out if you like a lens of not. Why spend hundreds more if you like the one that's half the price?

great shots, looks nice and sharp to me!

Thank you for getting that song stuck in my head, actually, if it removes "Chocolate Rain," which is stuck there now.
Those photos are really sharp! (and adorable) I think YOU could get sharp with any POS lens/camera, though, because you're just that awesome.
