Stopping to smell the flowers

I haven't been blogging as much because time has just been hectic around here. I have been trying to spend more quality over computer time with the family. I can't wait for summer.

Feel free to skip my next ramblings if wanted...sometimes it just helps me think to write it all out there.

On top of that I have been agonizing over whether to keep Blaze in private school or go public and I am so not good with decisions. I do love Blaze's school but it cost money and unfortunately in this economy every penny counts. I don't want money to be my deciding factor but sometimes it just is. Public schools cases of violence scare me I think (I am a paranoid mom...and yes I know it can happen anywhere in my head though I think it happens less at private schools.) Maybe it doesn't help that one of my best friends is the sheiff deputy at a local high school, I don't like hearing his stories lol. I also love the connection Blaze has with God and I know it means a lot to him to have that at school. He told me he would be sad if he couldn't study the Bible at school. I also know he will always have that connection, he just truely has God in his heart. Realistically I don't know if I can afford to send him to private forever, and then when Keats goes it will be twice as much. I feel if I am not going to to do it the whole time I should take him out now while it is still easy to make friends....anyone want to make this decision for me??!! Or just tell me that public schools are ok....or send me 100 grand lol.

Anyways, I was walking in the door the other day and saw this tiny flower poking out of the ground...it made me feel good that spring was coming. Not the best picture cause it was sunny but I still love the feeling of just being able to breathe it gave me momentarily.

Bobbi, your macro of the crocus is wonderful!! I love the delicacy you captured--both the center and the stem, holding the flower up so bravely. And your description of Blaze's devotion to the Lord just warms my heart. I love it when kids "get it" at such a young age; it shapes the remainder.

So pretty, I want spring! Good luck deciding what to do with school. We still have a bit until Mylie starts school and I am struggling with public vs. charter. Everything is different when it is your kiddo.

That photo is beautiful. I know how you feel agonizing over schools. We visited the schools and teachers and decided our public school was actually a good fit. In our situation anyways. Although it was an agonizing decision and I know what you're going through.

I love the bright sun and shadow on this one! It's a hard decision, I know. My kids go to private but my DS starts public HS next year. I'm worried, too!

I had been agonizing over the same thing and decided to keep mine in private school for at least one more year. I'm going to have to go through the same torment next year but to me it's so worth it to have hime learning the Bible in school. If we commit to another year then we'll keep him in for good so he'll have the same friends. I guess that doesn't really help but at least you know others are facing the same decisions.

That's such a beautiful photo. Love the color. Sorry you're struggling with that decision right now. My kids all go to public schools, and it's been great for the most part. I think Hope you figure out what is best for you and your kids.

Beautiful! I love your flower...it seems hopeful.

I can't tell you what to do Bobbi. I am not sure what your schools are like. I have gone to public school all my life, and my girls go to public over private. It was a hard choice for us as well...there is a great school about a 25 minutes away from here that I thought was really great and aspired for greatness. However, I spent a week just viewing classes in the public school, and you know what, they were teaching the SAME things, and had the same loving teachers and staff as in the private sector. I knew highschool might be different so I even spent a while in the high school and everyone was so nice and welcome and the kids were...kids.

Now...I live in a small city. I don't know what yours is like. But my hope for you is that you actually visit before you make any tough choices. :) Think about all that money you could save for college going to public.

Yay, you got your first crocus- spring is definitely coming! :)

I hear ya on the school decision. I have been wrestling with the decision to continue sending my boys to public schools (and the public schools here are REALLY good academics-wise and really tight security-wise), or I could send them to one of the catholic schools (we are not catholic, but I do like the faith-based teaching idea). Private school is SO expensive though, but honestly public school has been costing us a pretty penny too, with all of the "extras" they tend to throw at us, LOL. I have even considered trying to homeschool, I am so scared for my boys's safety (recent events with the school bus accient have probably magnified that as well). It is SO hard to know what the "right" thing is to do! I just wish someone could swoop in and give us all the answers. {{{hugs}}}

Yay, a crocus! A sure sign of spring. Have you come to your decision yet? We've always been a public school family and that's always worked for us. I guess I've had the philosophy of taking advantage of the 'free' education my tax dollars provides since college is going to kill our bank account. I'd do private if public wasn't working for us though.
That was totally not helpful at all, wasn't it? :-D

After reading the grammar mess that I (public school educated) wrote you'll probably decide to stick with private. :-D

Gorgeous processing! Sorry I can't help with your decision. . . .I think it depends so much on what your particular public schools have to offer. Our public schools were spectacular; the private schools would have been frightfully inferior. . . but each area is different. One suggestion: go spend some REAL time in the public school you're considering and see. . . and get at least beyond the sadness you'd of course feel in saying "goodbye" to the private school to try to sort out what this particular public school would offer. Good luck with your decision.
